Mr.
Balžalorsky is
particularly active in
the field of chamber music.

He works with many ensembles, and for several years has successfully
performed in DUO with pianists Christoph Theiler and Hinko
Haas.

Critics
comment on the degree to which he is able to develop and maintain unity
with his musical partners in this milieu, presenting “…an
exceptional harmony of ease and authenticity of performance.”
He performs also in Duo with renowned
American-Russian pianist Vladislav Kovalsky. They performed very
successfuly together at Carnegie Hall in New York in September 2005.

He is a member of the Amael
Piano Trio, artistic director of Ensemble Ouverture
(contemporary music), member of Trio Ritratto dell' amore
(violin, flute - Cveto Kobal, harpsichord - Nedka Petkowa
and member of Trio Balžalorsky, Kobal, Saje

As
a soloist, he performs with a variety of orchestras, including the
Slovenian Philharmonic, the Slovenian Symphony Orchestra, the
Moravian-Silesian Chamber Orchestra, the Gaudeamus Orchestra of Zagreb,
the Dubrovnik Chamber Orchestra, the “Freiburger barocksolisten” etc.

Repertoire for violin and
percussions |
One
of his specialties is the development of a repertoire for violin solo
and percussions, which recently connected him with renowned American
percussionist Amy Lynn Barber, with whom he performed in the Percussion
Plus Project in Prague and Venice and at the Interlochen Arts Centre in
the USA, with the Interlochen Percussion Ensemble

Balzalorsky’s
special interests include the promotion of contemporary music; several
known composers have written music specifically for him to perform.

The live collection of Volodja Balzalorsky, is a unique presentation
featuring the violinist with his chamber music partners, from 1985 to
the present. The performances are taken from live national broadcasts,
international festivals and concert series, around the world.
BROADCASTING
Volodja
Balzalorsky has made extensive live
and archival radio and TV recordings throughout Europe as well as in
the USA.
He
recorded for the radio stations in Czech Republic, Italy, Slovenia,
Croatia, Macedonia, Yugoslavia and in USA- Radio of Interlochen Arts
Centre, Michigan.
He
has also appeared on television in various countries: TV Slovenia
(several times), TV Croatia, National TV of Czech Republic, TV Sarajevo
(Bosnia and Herzegovina) TV Pristine and TV Novi Sad (Yugoslavia).
TEACHING
For
Volodja Balžalorsky teaching represents
an important complement to his artistic carrier.
He
has been a Professor of Violin at Music
Academy of the Ljubljana University.
He
regularly gives Master Classes in Great
Britain, Italy, Croatia, USA and Slovenia.
He
also teaches at the Ljubljana Middle School of Music. His pupils have
won many first prizes and awards, both nationally and internationally.

EDUCATION
He
studied first at the SGBS in Ljubljana - prof.
Ciril Veronek.
He
continued his studies with Igor Ozim at
the Hochschule für Musik in Cologne [graduation 1980], in Moscow
with Galina Barinova at the Tchaikowsky Conservatoire, with Josip
Klima in Zagreb, where he received his post graduate degree, and in
Vienna, with famous Czech violinist Josef
Suk. Additionally, he studied chamber music with the Amadeus
Quartet..
